The 90’s was a magical decade which gave us some evergreen movies we can watch anytime. It was a decade that made good movies and started giving up on the melodramatic trends that were set by the decades predating it. Characters started becoming more relatable and the music got better with each passing year! You can get yourself all the classic Bollywood movies of the 90’s at the GOCF that will earn you extra cash back on every purchase you make.
The 90’s movies also taught us a thing or two about love, life, friendship and imparted us with quite a few pearls of wisdom:
Reincarnation is a Thing
One of the most popular movies of the 90’s- Karan Arjun which starred Salman and Shahrukh together in a movie (sounds like a dream for today’s generation!) was all about the faith of a mother who was sure her Karan Arjun will come back against all odds even if they’re dead- and boy was she right! They are reborn and reunite with their long lost mother to avenge their deaths! It sounds quite a dozy now but back then boy was this popular! Watch Salman and Shahrukh in PremRatanDhanPayo and Fan respectively through book movie tickets online and get not just great seats but great prices too!
Indian Values
Ok not that other Bollywood movies didn’t lay emphasis to the importance of Indian traditions and customs but one movie took it way too seriously and it was none other than DDLJ- where SRK sets out to prove that he may have been brought up in London but he still has Indian values instilled in him which make him the right groom for his lady love! It wasn’t enough he loved her, he had to prove NRI boys can pull off the Desi Swag too! Needless to say, this movie ran for almost two decades in theatres!
Friend Zone
Ah yes- the two dreaded words no person wants to be in the receiving end of! Many Bollywood movies came and went where one person is stuck in the friend zone and watches his love interest pick someone else. However, the one movie which made the friend zone seem like a horrible dream limbo from which there is no escaping was none other than KuchKuchHotaHai where your heart breaks when SRK leaves Kajol in the friend zone to pick Rani and then later Kajol friend zones Salman for SRK. This movie sure had double standards claiming we fall in love just once but is still one of our favourite SRK-Kajol movies. The two will reunite on screen once again in Dilwale for which you can book tickets through bookmyshow coupons and get great discounts as well as seats of your choice.
Double Role and Twins
One of Bollywood’s highly used comedy formula is by casting an actor in a double role- generally they’re siblings who’ve been separated and each grows out to be the mirror opposite of the other for some strange reason. Be it Salman in Judwaa or Kajol in KuchKhattiKuchMeethi, they both played siblings with very opposing personalities. Sometimes, they’re not siblings and just doppelgangers as seen in movies like Bade MiyanChoteMiyan and Duplicate. Double roles and twins is one formula in Bollywood which teaches you that you can easily swap places with your twin or doppelganger and live a dual life!
Girls and Boys Can’t be Friends
Well thanks for that Bollywood! Ok this concept became famous in the movie Maine PyarKiya which released in 1989 but aptly addressed the issue at hand that a girl and boy can’t always remain friends and one of them always ends up falling in love with the other. When you come to think of it, it’s not really all that wrong! It is hard to have a platonic relationship with the other gender if you’re not seeing someone else. But if two single people end up being friends, the more likely scenario is that one will develop feelings for the other- who may or may not end up getting friend zoned! Finally something adds up!
These pearls of wisdom can only come from Bollywood and it seems that they do have quite a lot of relevance to real life as well. It seems that art does imitate life after all!
