One man who’s no stranger to donning a cricket kit is England bowler Tim Bresnan. However, the 27-year-old may be forced to miss the start of the cricket season after undergoing surgery on an injury to his right elbow.
The problem forced Bresnan to miss England’s tour to New Zealand and, according to a statement from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), the player faces between six and eight weeks of rehabilitation work.
Commenting on the medical procedure, the ECB stated: “Tim Bresnan has undergone an uncomplicated operation on his right elbow to remove extra bone and scar tissue. Bresnan will now commence a six-to-eight week rehabilitation and back-to-bowling programme before returning to competitive cricket early in the summer.”
The BBC points out that the medium-fast bowler had surgery on the same elbow in late 2011 and missed the subsequent Test series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates. Meanwhile, his most recent appearance was in England’s one-day international win over India in late January. It looks unlikely that he will be back in the team by the time England’s domestic schedule gets underway against New Zealand in the first Test at Lord’s on May 16th.
Whether people play top-level cricket like Bresnan or they simply enjoy having some fun on the pitch in an amateur setting, it is now easier than ever for them to stock up on the cricket gear they need. By making sure they have the right supplies, individuals stand to enhance their game and get more from the sport.
