When you know that you have to go into hospital for a while and need somebody else to look after your pets, there are plenty of things which you can do beforehand to help out. Draw together a list of everything that your pet-sitter might need to think about. Knowing that they have all the information that they need ready to hand will help you achieve a greater peace of mind whilst staying in hospital.
If you are going into hospital for a fixed amount of time it may be a good idea to stock up on the type of pet foods that you prefer your animals to consume. Write down how much they need to be fed each day. This is especially important if any of your pets have to follow a specialist diet.
Another reason that you might need someone to look after your pets is if you are going away on a short business trip. There is, of course, the option of booking your pets into professional kennels or care facilities. However, many people prefer to try and avoid this wherever possible because of the finances involved in doing so. Also, some pets do not react well to being taken out of their home environments.
Dogs will need exercise on a regular basis and somebody to let them outdoors so that they can do their business. Whatever you do, try to tell your pet-sitter as much notice as possible about the dates that you will require them.
