Like any other pet, cats can and probably will become dependent on their owners to feed them and look after them. Therefore it is always important for the owner to ensure that they are prepared to keep them for life, to look after them and ensure that they receive the care and attention that will ensure their health and happiness. A cat will grow just as any other living thing would and during this time its nutritional requirements will change too. Just after birth it is always a good idea to feed the pet as they always have been. Disruption at this point is not good. Over time however, the owner may wish to change the food that the kitten is eating which can be done by gradually mixing one food with another over a period of a week until they are weaned over.
It is always best to feed small meals to begin with but this can be gradually increased as the months roll by. It is a good idea to give fresh food in a clean bowl 4 times every day. All pets require a fresh supply of clean water at all times because water is integral to their bodies. A pet can go without food for some time, but the same length of time without clean water could prove fatal.
Learning about their natures and what certain behaviours and actions mean is vital as well. So long as there is enough affection in a home to give, a feline will typically be very happy.
